Why keep the dead ends

Almost everything you try has value. Even the dead ends.

Not every session ends in an answer. Every session ends in knowledge. The attempts that didn't work tell the next person, or your next session, what not to try again and where the problem really is.

Dead ends: The dead ends are part of the knowledge

A session that never reached its goal still holds what was tried, what failed and why. From the outside you only see the result. The path is what saves the next attempt hours.

So keep the attempts that didn't work. Branch from them when you learn something new. Share them with someone who is about to walk into the same wall.

Share the path: Share the session, not just the result

An answer without the path is hard to learn from. The session shows which options were ruled out, what the agent got wrong first, and what finally made the difference. That is what someone else needs to build on the result, or to take it in a different direction.

Lineage: A dated record of how you got there

Each time you save into the same session, it gets a new version, and the earlier ones stay as they were. Each branch notes which session and version it was spun off from, and when. Together that is a lineage tree: how a piece of work developed, attempt by attempt, with dates.

It is a working record for you and for whoever you share it with: where to pick up, what was already tried, and which version a result came from.

Timing: Worth the most now

What a session knows is most useful the day it ends: the problem is current, the tools are the versions you used, and few people have worked through it yet. Every week it waits, some of that goes stale.

Save it today. Share it while it still helps. If it is worth paying for, list it while it is current.
